Hello again!
If you are reading this I assume you suffered through my lemon analogy and for that, I thank you.
So what’s up? How have you been? How are the kids? Oh don’t have kids then how’s life?
Well mine has been rather interesting- thanks for asking! I’ve been given either the gift or the curse of spending a lot of time by myself (you decide), and do you know what the consequence of spending a lot of time to yourself is? Time. With yourself. A lot of it.
In a well meaning attempt to fill a small portion of my day with a seemingly innocent video from one of my favourite YouTube content creators Tiffany Ferguson, titled ‘Are you a good Influence? (Fast Fashion VS Sustainable Clothing) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y5Hi8US0_s&t=317s led me down a path. I paused, took a deep breath to digest and categorise all of the information she provided, took another deep breath, analysed how I felt, and that was a feeling of disgust. That- and a lot of questions about the Fast Fashion Industry. Thus ensued the never ending rabbit hole of how Fast Fashion Companies are destroying the earth, along with unsafe working conditions, slave labour, ‘The True Cost” documentary, and the psychological effects of consumerism, to name a few.
Landing on somewhat of a good take away out of all of the rubbish (literally) was how I can become more sustainable and a conscious consumer. Because as much as ignorance is bliss, I can no longer live in my non eco friendly little bubble knowing what I know now and continue my Fast Fashion habits, especially when majority of it is posted online.
So henceforth this dramatic so called change! Everything on my website from now onwards will all be of ethical and sustainable practices and are transparent about it, including fashion brands, skincare and makeup companies, and the things that rather tickle my pickle. You’ll hardly notice the difference and overall I hope to inform you to the best of my abilities on this subject so you- as a consumer, can make a more informed decision on where your money is going, and what actually went in to your $10 Cotton On tee shirt that you bought.
(Side note- I know that shopping ethically and sustainably is not accessible to everyone, with a lot of people not being able to afford brands/items that are made consciously. I do understand it is a privilege to shop this way but don’t worry I’ve got you covered with upcoming posts including ‘How to Thrift’, ‘DIY’ing old clothing that you don’t wear anymore’, ‘Clothing Swaps’, and a lot more!)
I’ll be throwing down some facts about the industry throughout- but if you want to dip a toe in the so called pond of consumerism now here are some goodies to start with.
Enjoy xx
